About the Winery
The Château de Valmer is remarkable for its Italian Renaissance gardens dating from the 15th to 17th centuries. The estate was created in 1461 by the maître d'hôtel of the King of Navarre and has always had a viticultural vocation. Acquired and replanted in the 1970s by Count Aymar de Saint-Venant, it has been directed since 2009 by Jean, his son, who today leads 35 hectares on gentle slopes well exposed along the Brenne valley. The estate is known for its Vouvray AOC wines made from Chenin Blanc. The gardens have been classified as a 'Jardin Remarquable' since 2004, and the property has been listed as a monument historique since 1930. The estate welcomes visitors to explore both the gardens and taste its wines.

Tasting Room
Visitors can explore the gardens and taste Vouvray wines. The estate is accessible by car, located 30 minutes from Tours, and is on the Loire à Vélo cycle route. The main building was largely destroyed by fire in 1948, but the gardens, Petit Valmer, bridges and chapel remain. Adult entry is approximately €16.30.
