About the Winery
The Cave du Haut-Poitou is a cooperative cellar founded in 1948, long before the Haut-Poitou appellation received VDQS recognition in 1970 and AOC status in 2011. The cooperative vinifies the production of approximately 500 hectares, representing the majority of the appellation's output. It brings together around a hundred winegrowers and produces wines from Sauvignon Blanc (called Fié Gris locally), Gamay, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir. The cellar is the driving force behind the Haut-Poitou appellation, producing white, red, and Rose wines from clay-limestone soils.
“A cooperative founded in 1948, vinifying the majority of the Haut-Poitou AOC production.”
