Scea château la Bastide
About the Winery
Château la Bastide Rougepeyre is a fortified Cathar farm dating from 1209, situated on the southern slope of the Montagne Noire near Carcassonne. In the same family for eight generations since 1620, this exceptional 167-hectare estate (with 50 hectares of vines) is now managed by Dominique de Lorgeril. The estate is located in the unique Cabardès appellation, where Atlantic and Mediterranean influences meet, producing wines that are both powerful and elegant. The domain cultivates both southern (Grenache, Syrah) and Bordeaux (Merlot, Cabernet Franc) grape varieties. The property features a reception hall for 280 people, 6 gîtes, and offers oenotourism activities including blending workshops, treasure hunts, and vineyard visits. The estate is certified HVE3.
