About the Winery

Château Closiot, owned by Françoise and Bernard Sirot-Soizeau, is a Barsac estate first mentioned in 1766 under the name 'Clos du Clouziot'. Located 2 km from Barsac, the property features a distinctive crenellated tower. The estate covers 4.5 hectares on fawn sandy, clay-limestone soils over limestone bedrock. The vineyard is planted with 90% Sémillon, 5% Sauvignon Gris, and 5% Muscadelle, with an average vine age of 49 years. Harvesting involves 4 to 6 successive passes (tries) for botrytized grapes. The wines are vinified in barriques (25% new) and aged for 22 months. The estate received a Best Of Wine Tourism award for the quality of its tourist welcome and offers educational visits including a slideshow about the winemaking year.
