Domaine Saparale

Vallée de l'Ortolo, 20100 Sartène, Corsica, France

About the Winery

Nestled in the Ortolo Valley between Sartène and Bonifacio in southern Corsica, this property was founded in the 19th century by Philippe de Rocca Serra, a lawyer who traveled extensively in Africa before returning to create an exemplary agricultural estate. In 1998, Philippe Farinelli, a talented oenologist and descendant of the founder, revived the estate. Today, the 52-hectare domaine is farmed organically, cultivating typical Corsican grape varieties including Niellucciu (40%), Sciaccarellu (48%), and Vermentino for whites. The estate produces several ranges including Domaine Saparale AOC Sartène in red, Rose, and white, as well as the Casteddu cuvée and Natura (sulfite-free) wines.

A historic 52-hectare Corsican estate in the Ortolo Valley, founded in the 19th century and revived by Philippe Farinelli in 1998.
