Château la Vieille Cure

Château La Vieille Cure, 33141 Fronsac, Bordeaux, France

About the Winery

Acquired in 1986 by a group of American friends and reacquired in 2018 by French industrialist Jérôme Pignard, this estate appears on the famous Belleyme map of 1780 and covers 17 hectares in a single block. The vines are planted on clay-limestone hillsides at 65 meters altitude, well exposed along the Isle River. The estate is a safe value of the Fronsac appellation, producing wines from 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are aged for 12-18 months in French oak barrels (30% new), imparting structure and refined complexity. Since the acquisition by Jérôme Pignard, the property has continued its commitment to quality with sustainable viticulture practices.

A 17-hectare Fronsac estate on a single block, appearing on the 1780 Belleyme map, now led by Jérôme Pignard.
