About the Winery

Château de Belle-Isle does indeed have a connection to Belle-Île-en-Mer: the Breton island, acquired by Nicolas Fouquet, was sold by the grandson of the disgraced Superintendent of Finances. The proceeds were used in part to buy these lands in the Corbières. Long managed by a group of friends, the estate became the property of the Ruelle family in 2021. Stephanie Ruelle and Marc Dworkin now lead this organic wine estate producing AOC Corbières and AOC Boutenac wines. The property cultivates traditional Languedoc grape varieties including Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre on the rugged terroir of the Corbières.

An estate with historical ties to Belle-Île-en-Mer, now producing organic AOC Corbières and Boutenac wines.
