About the Winery

Vranken-Pommery Monopole is the second largest champagne group in France. The house was born in 1836 under the name Dubois-Greno, becoming Pommery et Greno when Louis-Alexandre Pommery arrived in 1856. Its fortune is linked to Jeanne Alexandrine Louise Pommery who, widowed in 1858, gave international dimension to the business, had monumental chalk cellars (crayères) excavated, and contributed to renewing the style of champagne by creating the brut nature in 1874. She also commissioned the iconic neo-Gothic buildings that house the company's headquarters, a familiar landmark for the people of Reims. Since 2002, Pommery has been part of the Vranken Monopole group, led by Paul-François Vranken. The group's portfolio includes the brands Vranken (with cuvées Diamant and Demoiselle), Pommery (with cuvées Louise and POP), and Charles Lafitte. The Pommery estate features 18 kilometers of Gallo-Roman chalk cellars and hosts contemporary art exhibitions 30 meters underground.
