Château Grand Pontet
About the Winery
Château Grand Pontet is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate that was formerly owned by the Bordeaux négociant Barton and Guestier. Since 1980, the property has been in the Bécot family. Sylvie Pourquet-Bécot has led the 14-hectare classified growth since 2000. The estate is located near those run by her brothers Dominique and Gérard, Château Beau-Séjour Bécot. The terroir consists of clay-limestone soils typical of the Saint-Émilion plateau, producing wines of elegance and finesse. The estate crafts wines primarily from Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, reflecting the classic Bordeaux right-bank style with smooth tannins and complex aromatics.
“A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru of 14 hectares in the Bécot family since 1980, led by Sylvie Pourquet-Bécot since 2000.”
