Domaine Modat
About the Winery
Philippe Modat created this domain in 2007 in the Agly Valley of Roussillon. The 27-hectare vineyard is farmed organically and biodynamically on a high-altitude terroir of gneiss and granite, using cover crops and pastoralism. In 2016, the domain's two sons, Louis and Quentin, took over the property, bringing new energy to this young estate. The domain produces wines from local grape varieties including Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, and Macabeu, crafting wines that express the unique mineral character of the Agly Valley's schist and granite soils. The combination of high altitude, organic farming, and biodynamic practices results in wines with freshness, precision, and a strong sense of terroir.
“A 27-hectare organic and biodynamic estate in the Agly Valley since 2007, farming high-altitude granite and gneiss terroirs.”
