Sca château Pavie (Ch. Pavie Decesse)
About the Winery
Château Pavie Décesse was acquired by Gérard Perse in 1997, one year before his acquisition of the neighboring Château Pavie. This 3.65-hectare cru was detached from Pavie in 1885 by its then-owner, Ferdinand Bouffard. It has long since acquired its own distinct personality, born from a specific terroir entirely situated on the upper part of the Côte Pavie with clay soils, and an overwhelmingly Merlot-dominated (90%) blend complemented by Cabernet Franc (10%). The wine offers exceptional structure and aging potential, often slightly more approachable in its youth than Château Pavie. The 2021 vintage was the final vintage for Pavie-Décesse, as the vines were incorporated into Château Pavie the following year. The property shares the same limestone plateau terroir as Château Pavie and Château Pavie Macquin.
“A historic 3.65-hectare Saint-Émilion Grand Cru on the limestone plateau, acquired by Gérard Perse in 1997 and incorporated into Château Pavie after 2021.”
