Famille Bich

Saint-Hippolyte, 33330 France

About the Winery

This vast domaine (42 hectares, including 32 of vines) is situated on the heights of Saint-Hippolyte, east of Saint-Émilion. The château was built by the Marquis de Mons in the late 17th century, on caves that sheltered the last Girondin deputies during the Terror. His descendants kept it until 1978 and its purchase by Baron Bich, inventor of the famous ballpoint pen, whose heirs, Pauline Bich and her husband Philippe Chandon-Moët, are still at the helm. The investments made by the family have paid off: the domaine acceded to the rank of Cru Classé in 2012.

A 42-hectare Saint-Émilion estate bought by Baron Bich in 1978, elevated to Cru Classé status in 2012.
