Domaine la Clef du Récit
About the Winery
After gaining solid experience on the family estate in Sancerre and in several wine-producing countries, Anthony Girard, a native of Récy, took over the keys to this 17-hectare property in 2012 and has made it one of the sure values of Sancerre. The name La Clef du Récit ('The Key of the Story') refers to the moment when he was given a large key by the local press during the opening ceremony as a symbolic gesture for the new ownership. Ever since, Anthony manages the vines according to organic principles. Two-thirds of his vineyards are planted on Caillottes soils (gravel and limestone), contributing freshness and fruitiness, while the rest are on flinty soils offering great minerality. The estate also produces wines in Menetou-Salon and Quincy appellations.
“A 17-hectare Sancerre estate taken over in 2012 by Anthony Girard, producing organic Sauvignon Blanc wines from Caillottes and flint soils.”
