Château Bélingard

About the Winery

Overlooking the Dordogne valley, Château Bélingard is a 75-hectare family vineyard founded in 1820, established on a promontory famous for its ancient Druid cult - 'Belen-gaard' or 'garden of the sun' - where the first battles of the Hundred Years' War also took place. The name 'Bélingard' is said to come from the Celtic 'beleen garten', meaning 'the garden of the Belin god', the god of sun and war. A sculpted rock on the site was probably used as a sacrificial altar some 3,000 years ago. Laurent de Bosredon and his wife Sylvie have been at the helm since 1986, as heirs of six generations. The estate produces wines in the Bergerac, Bergerac sec, Côtes de Bergerac, and Monbazillac appellations, as well as Périgord IGP wines.
