About the Winery

Founded in 1798 by Louis-Alexandre Faure, Domaine Chaboud-Cellier is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Péray, in the heart of the Northern Rhône Valley. Legend has it that the first bottle of sparkling Saint-Péray was made here in the middle of the 19th century with the help of a Champagne cellar master. Today, Stéphan Chaboud, representing the family's 6th generation, and Charlène Cellier, oenologist, have joined forces to run the 13-hectare estate. This unique wine has always been talked about by famous writers who enjoyed it (Lamartine, Maupassant, Daudet), kings and other well-known names such as the Tsar of Russia or composers such as Wagner. The estate's vineyard is on gentle slopes with limestone and calcareous-clay deposits, ideal for growing white grapes. The estate produces Saint-Péray (still and sparkling), Cornas, Saint-Joseph, and Côtes du Rhône wines.
