About the Winery

Born around the mid-18th century, when it bore the name Fazilleau, the cru was renamed L'Évangile at the beginning of the 19th century. Located between Pétrus and Cheval Blanc, L'Évangile owes its renown to its magnificent 22-hectare terroir mixing clays, sands, and very pure gravels, on a subsoil rich in iron deposits. Since 1990, it has been majority-owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) who have made significant investments. In 2018, the property began its conversion to organic agriculture and in 2020, Juliette Couderc took over as technical director. Biodynamic trials are also being conducted. The wine is a blend dominated by Merlot with Cabernet Franc, aged in French oak barrels.
