Denis et didier Berthollier

Chignin, Savoie, France

About the Winery

Alexis Berthollier specialized the family farm in the early 1960s. At the head of 10.5 hectares of vines, his two sons Denis and Didier continue the same quality approach, replanting abandoned hillsides and adapting grape varieties to terroirs. Here, no chemical weeding, inputs are limited and long aging is preferred. The estate dates back to 1850 and is located in Chignin, a small town in the Savoie department between Chambéry and Albertville. The vineyard is cultivated entirely using organic and biodynamic farming. The brothers specialize in indigenous varieties including Jacquère, Altesse, Mondeuse, and Bergeron (Roussanne), and have rescued forgotten grape varieties like Persan and Bia Blanc. Their white wines are characterized by fruity notes sometimes exotic, always balanced by a minerality specific to each plot. Their reds feature red fruit and spice expressions with fine tannic structure.

Denis and Didier Berthollier run a historic estate in Chignin, Savoie, cultivating 10.5 hectares organically and biodynamically since the 1960s.
