About the Winery

Château de Pizay operates a vast domaine of 75 hectares and also commercializes under the Château de Saint-Lager label a Brouilly from a 6-hectare vineyard, former lands of the barony of Saint-Lager on the eastern flank of Mont Brouilly. The barony of Saint-Lager dates back to 1432 when the de L'Haye family acquired a prévôté formerly belonging to the Sires de Beaujeu. The chapel of Brouilly at the top of the hill was built in 1857 on lands of Château de Saint-Lager to protect the vineyard. The last parcels of this ancient domaine were acquired by Château de Pizay in 1998. The wines are produced at the foot of Mont Brouilly on slimy and sandy soils that give the wine an intense and soft fruity touch.

A Brouilly from the historic barony of Saint-Lager on the eastern flank of Mont Brouilly, now part of the 75-hectare Château de Pizay estate.
