Château Villars
About the Winery
Returning in 1991 to the family domaine which he took over in 1998, after having worked as an oenologist-consultant in the Blayais, Thierry Gaudrie has since greatly contributed to making this 30-hectare cru - in his family for two centuries - a reference in Fronsac. The vineyard is installed on hillsides overlooking the Isle valley. The vines grow on clay and limestone soils known for producing wines with great aromatic variety and remarkable elegance. The estate produces Château Villars (the Grand Vin, aged 100% in French oak barrels), Château Malvat, and Charme de Villars. The wines are known for their floral, chocolate, and black cherry notes with round, fruity, and creamy palates.
“A 30-hectare Fronsac estate in the Gaudrie family for two centuries, with vines on hillsides overlooking the Isle valley, producing elegant Bordeaux wines.”
