About the Winery

This domain was created in 1819 by Jean-Pierre de Montalivet, friend and Minister of the Interior of Napoleon. Transmitted from generation to generation, it covers 18 hectares and is today the property of the family of Comte Georges de Choulot. The Château de Thauvenay is situated in the Sancerrois region of the Loire Valley, producing wines in the Sancerre appellation from Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes. The property features a magnificent château built in the 18th century, with grounds overlooking the surrounding vineyards. In 2016, the property was sold to Langlois-Chateau (part of the Bollinger group), marking a new chapter in its long history.
