Stéphane Montez du Monteillet
About the Winery
The origins of the domaine date back to the 16th century; the Montez family has cultivated vines since 1741. Established in 1999 following his father Antoine, Stéphane Montez represents the 9th generation of winegrowers. He today manages a 42-hectare vineyard (Cornas, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph and IGP), established on the heights of Chavanay at 320 meters altitude. Stéphane is one of the most dynamic winemakers in the Chavanay area and has become a must for wine lovers in the Northern Rhône. The domaine includes key parcels in Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph, with vines on granitic and mica-schist soils. The wines are harvested by hand and placed in small crates. The new cellar offers an unobstructed view of the Rhône Valley, allowing precision in vinification.
“Ninth-generation winemaker since 1741, producing exceptional Northern Rhône wines from Cornas, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph.”
