About the Winery

The Frey-Sohler estate is the story of several generations closely linked to the village of Scherwiller and Alsace wine. The Frey family descends from the oldest ancestor who arrived in Scherwiller from Switzerland in 1702, while the Sohler family has been winegrowers from Itterswiller since 1790. Today, the estate is run by Damien Sohler and his daughter Aude (sixth generation), along with Nicolas Sohler. The estate extends over approximately 29-32 hectares across the Scherwiller communal appellation, the Rittersberg terroir, and the Grand Cru Frankstein. The estate produces all Alsace grape varieties from Sylvaner to Gewurztraminer, including the prestigious Grand Cru Frankstein wines. Their Crémant Riesling was a three-star 'Coup de Coeur' in the Guide Hachette 2026. The estate is HVE-certified.
