About the Winery

Louis, Roger, Jacques and today Christophe: four generations of Aubois winegrowers established at Riceys-Bas, one of the three villages that form the important Aubois wine village of Les Riceys. The domaine was founded in 1953 and today covers approximately 10-12 hectares around Les Riceys, with a dominant plantings of Pinot Noir, the most cultivated grape in the department. Christophe Defrance took over from his father in 1988 and manages the estate with his wife Marie-Dominique and more recently with their daughter Anne-Sophie. The estate produces both Champagne and the famous Rose des Riceys still wine. The domaine is certified Terra Vitis and HVE III (High Environmental Value), having eliminated all insecticides, anti-botrytis, and herbicides. All soils are now cultivated mechanically.
