L' Escudé
About the Winery
Les Vins de l'Escudé is a family estate founded in 2004 by Laurent and Murielle Caubet in Cabidos, in the Béarn region of southwest France. Laurent was named Winemaker of the Year by the Guide Hachette des Vins in 2024. The estate covers 7 hectares of vines, cultivating traditional southwest grape varieties including Tannat, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc for reds and Roses, and Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng, Colombard, Sauvignon, and Raffiat de Moncade for whites. The estate produces wines under the IGP Comté Tolosan appellation, including their famous 'Osez l'Escudé' line with distinctive pin-up labels. The property features a restored Béarnaise barn that houses the cellar with small tanks and oak barrels.
