Château Caillavel
About the Winery
Château Caillavel is an estate in Pomport, in the Monbazillac appellation of southwest France. Monbazillac is one of the world's great sweet wine appellations, known for wines made from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes affected by noble rot. The estate produces both the renowned sweet Monbazillac wines and dry white wines under the Bergerac Sec appellation. The wines are crafted using traditional methods, with careful attention to the development of botrytis cinerea (noble rot) that gives Monbazillac its distinctive honeyed, complex character. The estate also produces red wines under the Côtes de Bergerac appellation.
“An estate in the prestigious Monbazillac appellation, producing world-class sweet wines from botrytised grapes.”
