Scea domaine de Bellene

22, rue du Beaujolais, 21200 Beaune, France

About the Winery

Domaine de Bellene is the personal estate of Nicolas Potel, one of Burgundy's most respected winemakers. Founded in 2005, the domaine takes its name from Belenos, the Gallic god of the sun, which was also the ancient name for Beaune. Potel, son of the legendary Denis Potel of Domaine Pousse d'Or, sources fruit from old vines across 25 hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The domaine produces wines from prestigious appellations including Beaune Premier Cru, Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin, Volnay, and Meursault. The wines are aged in barrels from the finest coopers with a maximum of 20% new oak, allowing the purity of terroir to shine through. Potel also operates his négociant business, La Maison Roche de Bellene, from the same cellars in Beaune.
