Champagne Pol Roger

1, rue Winston-Churchill, 51200 Épernay, France

About the Winery

Founded in 1849 by Pol Roger in Épernay, this Champagne house is one of the few remaining family-owned and independent grande marque houses. Pol Roger owns approximately 92 hectares of vineyards on prime sites in the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, and Vallée de la Marne, providing about 45% of their grape needs. The house famously became Winston Churchill's favorite Champagne, leading to the creation of the prestigious Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill. The cellars extend over 7km of winding chalk passages on two levels, with the deeper cellar maintaining a constant 9.5°C that slows the second fermentation for finer bubbles. The house produces around 110,000 cases annually, with wines aged well beyond minimum requirements: 3 years for non-vintage and up to 7 years for prestige cuvées. Hubert de Billy represents the 5th generation, while Laurent d'Harcourt serves as President.

One of Champagne's most prestigious family-owned houses, founded in 1849, renowned for its association with Winston Churchill and exceptional cuvées.
