About the Winery
Domaine La Soumade is a respected estate in the southern Rhône Valley, known for its Rasteau and Côtes du Rhône Villages wines. Created in 1979 by André Roméro, the 30-hectare estate has been supported since 1996 by his son Frédéric and since 2002 by Bordeaux oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt as consultant. The Rasteau appellation, which achieved cru status in 2010, produces powerful Grenache-based red wines from vineyards on hillsides with clay-limestone and blue marl soils. The estate's wines are known for their concentration, richness, and ability to age, representing a sure value in the southern Rhône.
