Château le Crock

About the Winery

Château Le Crock is a historic Saint-Estèphe estate built at the end of the 18th century, set within a 6-hectare park with a pond. Formerly known as Bastérot-Ségur, its 32-hectare vineyard extends on the high point of the Marbuzet hill. Since 1903, the estate has belonged to the Cuvelier family, who also own Château Léoville-Poyferré in Saint-Julien. The vineyard is planted with 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot, with an average vine age of 45 years. Winemaker Isabelle Davin brings expertise from both properties, producing wines with ripe fruit and soft tannins that tame the powerful Saint-Estèphe character. The estate was elevated to Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel status. Wines are aged 14-18 months in French oak barrels (30% new). The estate also produces a second wine, La Croix Saint-Estèphe.
