Château Deyrem Valentin
About the Winery
Château Deyrem Valentin is a historic estate dating back to 1730, located in Soussans near the center of Margaux. The name comes from Deyrem Valentin, the surname of the first owner who represented the community of Soussans on the Margaux Cantonal Council during the First French Republic. The estate belongs to the Sorge family since 1928, when it was purchased by Maurice Blanc, grandfather of the current owner Jean Sorge. The 13-hectare vineyard is planted with 50% Merlot, 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Petit Verdot, with some vines approaching 100 years old. Jean Sorge is now assisted by his daughters Christelle (oenology/technical direction) and Sylvie (administration). The estate was classified Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in 2020 and has been praised by Jancis Robinson for its exceptional value. Since 2017, the family has enlisted Hubert de Boüard Consulting for further quality development.
“A historic Margaux estate dating to 1730, producing elegant Cru Bourgeois Supérieur wines from old vines including nearly 100-year-old Petit Verdot.”
