Château Castigno
About the Winery
Château Castigno is a unique wine estate and tourist complex located in Assignan, Languedoc. Acquired in 2007 by Tine and Marc Verstraete, a Belgian film costume designer and businessman, the estate was formerly a property of the Order of Malta. The 30-hectare vineyard is cultivated organically and consists mainly of old vines (50 to 120 years old). The estate includes a complete oenotourism complex with dining options (including a Michelin-starred restaurant), accommodation in a beautifully renovated village, and various wine experiences. The wines are produced under the Saint-Chinian appellation, and the estate has been recognized for its exceptional microclimate between woods and rocks, surrounded by truffle oaks and dense scrubland. The village of Assignan has been entirely renovated to become a luxury wine tourism destination.
