Philippe Defrance
About the Winery
An 18.5-hectare estate established in Saint-Bris for several generations, run by Philippe Defrance since 1980. His vaulted cellars from the 12th and 13th centuries are worth a visit, as are his consistently excellent wines. The Saint-Bris appellation is unique in Burgundy for producing white wines from Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris. The estate also produces red wines from Pinot Noir in the Bourgogne Côte d'Auxerre and Irancy appellations. The wines are characterized by their purity and consistent quality, reflecting the unique Kimmeridgian terroir of the region.
“An 18.5-hectare estate in Saint-Bris since several generations, with remarkable 12th and 13th-century vaulted cellars and consistently excellent wines.”
