Domaine de la Bêche
About the Winery
Domaine de la Bêche was founded in 1848 deep in the hills of Beaujolais. At its head since 1985, Olivier Depardon (7th generation), joined by his son Alexis and daughter Caroline, produces Morgon, Régnié, and Beaujolais-Villages on 31 hectares. The domaine is unique in the appellation for having vines in all six of Morgon's climats: Les Charmes, Côte du Py, Corcelette, Douby, Grand Cras, and Micouds. In 2003, Olivier made the decision to de-stem all fruit and stop working with whole clusters, enabling gentle ferments with a semi-carbonic result. The domaine still uses 5,000 and 6,000-liter foudres that its forefathers used. Caroline handles the commercial side with her mother Ghislaine, while Olivier and Alexis manage the vines and cellar.
“A 7th generation family estate since 1848, unique in Morgon for having vines in all six of the appellation's climats across 31 hectares.”
