Domaine Comps

23, rue Paul-Riquet , 34620 Puisserguier France

About the Winery

Cleared by an ancestor from the foothills of the Massif Central, the domaine has remained in the same family since 1870. Pierre Comps sold the first bottles in 1975. In 1982, he became the first to produce Saint-Chinian in Puisserguier. Today, Pierre-François Comps runs the 17-hectare estate. Chemical weedkillers are banned, sexual confusion is practiced on more than half of the domaine, and plowing is still used. The vinification is careful, with complete destemming, aging in vats then in barrels after very gentle pressing using an old hydraulic press, and bottling done at the estate. The philosophy is that 'natural and beneficial, wine must remain a true pleasure for those who taste it.'

A family estate since 1870 in Puisserguier, pioneer of Saint-Chinian, with 17 hectares farmed sustainably and traditional vinification methods.
