Isla Gordon (Dom. la Sarabande)

About the Winery

Domaine La Sarabande is located in Laurens, one of the seven communes of the Faugères appellation. It was taken over in 2009 by Australian Paul Gordon and his Irish wife Isla. Together, they run a small 6.5-hectare vineyard in organic conversion (now 9.5 hectares). Both Paul and Isla started their wine careers in New Zealand, where Isla studied viticulture under some of the country's best practitioners. They came to France seeking vineyards that would allow them to follow their dream of producing sustainable, robust wines. In 2020, they built their own winery. The estate cultivates Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Marsanne, Roussanne, and Carignan on schist soils with limestone intrusions. Their children Rory and Peter join during harvest season.
