Domaine Berthet-Bondet

7, rue de la Tour, 39210 Château-Chalon, France

About the Winery

Domaine Berthet-Bondet is a historic estate in Château-Chalon, one of the most beautiful villages in France, in the heart of the Jura wine region. The estate was founded in 1984 when Jean and Chantal Berthet-Bondet, both agronomists, acquired a property that included a 16th-century house and vaulted cellars that had not produced wine for over 50 years. They harvested their first crop in 1985 and have been producing the full range of Jura wines ever since. The estate covers 15 hectares, with 4.5 hectares in the Château-Chalon appellation (exclusively for Vin Jaune from Savagnin) and 10.5 hectares in Côtes du Jura. The domaine has been certified organic since 2013 and their daughter Hélène, an oenologist, joined the family business in 2013 and took over management in 2018. The estate is renowned for its Vin Jaune, which ages for at least 6 years under a veil of yeast in oak barrels, as well as its Côtes du Jura Tradition, a blend of Chardonnay and Savagnin aged sous voile.

An organic estate in Château-Chalon since 1984, with 15 hectares producing Vin Jaune and Côtes du Jura wines, now managed by the second generation Hélène Berthet-Bondet.
