About the Winery

Château Montgaillard, managed by the Chollet family since the late 18th century, is a historic estate in Saint-Maixant, south of Gironde. The property came into the family in 1905 when Aurélien Chollet acquired a beautiful bourgeois house surrounded by vineyards. Today, François Chollet directs the estate, which covers approximately 37-43 hectares of vineyards on gravelly and clay-limestone soils overlooking the Garonne River, facing Château Malagar where writer François Mauriac lived. The estate produces red wines under the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux appellation and Bordeaux Blanc from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, vinified in a historic 13th-century chapel on the property. The wines are regularly awarded at major competitions.
