Château Roquegrave
About the Winery
Château Roquegrave is located in Valeyrac, Médoc, Bordeaux, on one of the highest points of the commune overlooking the Gironde estuary. The estate has been owned by the Joannon and Lleu families since 1965. Pierre-Yves Joannon, who holds a degree in viticulture and oenology from Bordeaux's ENITA, has managed the estate since 2016. The vineyard spans 27-30 hectares on soils of mixed clay, sand and gravel, planted primarily with Merlot (70%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), and Petit Verdot (5%). Recognized as a Cru Bourgeois since 1932, the estate was awarded HVE3 (High Environmental Value) certification in 2018. The wines are known for their Médoc character, balancing tradition with careful vineyard management.
