About the Winery

Domaine Frédéric Mochel is a historic family estate in Traenheim, Alsace, with roots dating back to 1669, spanning fourteen generations. Traenheim is situated in the northern part of Alsace, 20 km west of Strasbourg, in the heart of the La Couronne d'Or vineyard. In the 1960s, Frédéric Mochel acquired many uncultivated parcels on the hill of the future Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergbieten. Guillaume Mochel took over the estate in 2001, bringing fresh energy while respecting family traditions. The estate currently covers 10 hectares, of which 5 hectares are on the prestigious Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergbieten. The domaine produces a range of Alsace wines including Crémant d'Alsace, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Noir. The estate is transitioning to organic farming and pursuing High Environmental Value (HVE) certification. Their iconic Riesling Altenberg de Bergbieten Cuvée Henriette has received numerous accolades including 95 points from James Suckling.
