About the Winery

Earl Le Clos de Caveau is a family estate in Vacqueyras, in the Southern Rhône Valley. The estate was formerly owned by Steven Spurrier, the wine merchant who organized the famous 1976 'Judgment of Paris' tasting, before being acquired by the Bungener family in 1976. Today, Henri Bungener runs the estate, which has been farmed organically since 1989. The 20-hectare vineyard is situated in a hidden valley surrounded by Mediterranean forest at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, providing exceptional freshness for the appellation. The estate produces wines from Vacqueyras, Gigondas, and Côtes du Rhône, including the cuvées 'Fruit Sauvage,' 'Carmin Brillant,' and the flagship 'Lao Muse.' The wines are celebrated for their marked salinity, herbal quality, and versatility.
