Château Grand Corbin-Despagne

Saint-Émilion, Gironde, France

About the Winery

Château Grand Corbin-Despagne is a historic Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé estate located on the north-western slope of the Saint-Émilion appellation, near the border with Pomerol. The Despagne family has owned the estate since 1812, spanning seven generations. The château sits on soils of clay, sand, and iron pan (crasse de fer) with a subsoil of asteriated limestone, similar to the terroirs of neighboring Pomerol. The estate produces wines predominantly from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which thrive on these soils. In 1996, the estate was classified as Grand Cru Classé, and it continues to produce wines of elegance and aging potential under the direction of the Despagne family. The wines are known for their refinement, complex aromatics, and silky tannins.
