Domaine Charton
About the Winery
Domaine Charton is a family estate created in 1960, now run by the third generation. Vincent Charton took over in 2011, supported by his father Jean-Pierre. The estate operates 11.5 hectares of vineyards on excellent Mercurey terroirs in the Côte Chalonnaise. The vines range from 15 to 100 years old, planted to Pinot Noir for reds and Chardonnay for whites. They produce several Mercurey Premier Cru wines including Clos du Roy, La Chassière, and Les Naugues, as well as village-level Mercurey and Bourgogne wines. The winemaking philosophy minimises intervention, with manual harvesting, about 20 days of maceration for reds, and 8-10 months of ageing in oak barrels.
“A 3rd-generation family estate since 1960 in Mercurey, with 11.5 hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on Premier Cru terroirs.”
