Jean Chartron

8 bis, Grande-Rue, 21190 Puligny-Montrachet, France

About the Winery

Founded in 1859 by journeyman cooper Jean-Édouard Dupard, Domaine Jean Chartron has been handed down through five generations of the same family. Jean-Michel Chartron took over from his father in 1994 and continues to push the estate forward, now supported by his sister Anne-Laure since 2015. The 14.5-hectare estate produces 23 appellations on some of the best terroirs of Puligny-Montrachet and neighbouring villages, including three monopoles: Clos de la Pucelle and Clos du Cailleret in Puligny, and Clos des Chevaliers in Chevalier-Montrachet. About 90% of their production is Chardonnay, from village wines through Premier Cru to Grand Cru sites including Bâtard-Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet. The estate follows organic practices though not certified.

A 5th-generation estate since 1859 in Puligny-Montrachet with 14.5 hectares including three monopoles and Grand Cru holdings.
