Cave coopérative de la Venise provençale
About the Winery
La Venise Provençale is the name given to Martigues, just as Bruges is the 'Venice of the North'. This name was adopted by the cooperative of Saint-Julien-des-Martigues, created in 1959. The cooperative cellar brings together 121 winegrowers who cultivate 185 hectares, mainly in the Saint-Julien and Saint-Pierre hamlets. The terroir benefits from exceptional sunshine, with the sea and Mistral wind creating a dry, balanced climate ideal for vine expression. Their range extends from fruit juices to méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines, offering modern cuvées as well as classic barrel-aged or jar-aged expressions under the AOP Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence and IGP Méditerranée appellations. The cooperative has undergone significant modernisation to serve its quality ambitions.
“A cooperative cellar created in 1959, uniting 121 growers across 185 hectares in the Martigues area for AOP Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence wines.”
