About the Winery

Couly-Dutheil is one of the most prestigious wine estates in the Loire Valley, founded in 1921 in Chinon. The estate has a rich history, beginning when Baptiste Dutheil married Marie Couly and started as a wine merchant before purchasing their first vineyard, the Clos de l'Écho, in 1925. This historic vineyard, which takes its name from the echo produced by the nearby Château de Chinon, was reputedly visited by Joan of Arc. Today, the estate encompasses 130 hectares of vineyards and is run by Jacques and Arnaud Couly. The estate produces a wide range of Chinon wines from Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc, including the legendary Clos de l'Écho, considered one of the greatest Cabernet Franc wines in the world. The estate's wines are characterized by their concentration, depth, and remarkable aging potential.

A legendary Loire Valley estate since 1921, home to the iconic Clos de l'Écho, one of the world's greatest Cabernet Franc wines.
