Earl Bachardou

Monein, 64360 Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France

About the Winery

Earl Bachardou (also known as Domaine Montaut) is a family estate located in Monein in the Jurançon appellation of southwestern France. The estate produces wines from the Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng grape varieties, which are the signature grapes of Jurançon. The vineyards are planted on the steep hillsides of the foothills of the Pyrenees, benefiting from a microclimate created by the proximity of the mountains. The estate produces both dry (sec) and sweet (moelleux) Jurançon wines, with the sweet wines being made from late-harvested grapes that have been affected by noble rot. The wines are known for their aromatic intensity, richness, and ability to age. The estate practices sustainable viticulture on its hillside vineyards.
