Domaine Champalou
About the Winery
Domaine Champalou is one of the most respected producers in Vouvray, the Loire Valley's premier Chenin Blanc appellation. Established by Catherine and Didier Champalou in 1984, the estate has grown to encompass 22 hectares of vineyards planted exclusively with Chenin Blanc. The domaine produces a full range of Vouvray styles, from bone-dry to lusciously sweet, including sparkling wines made by the traditional method. Catherine and Didier's daughter, Céline, has joined the family business, continuing the tradition. The vineyards are planted on the chalky tuffeau limestone and clay soils of the Vouvray hills, giving the wines their characteristic minerality and ability to age. The domaine is known for meticulous vineyard work and precise, terroir-driven winemaking.
“A celebrated Vouvray estate producing a full range of Chenin Blanc wines, from dry to sweet to sparkling, from tuffeau limestone soils.”
