Domaine Gilles Morat is a small, family-owned winery located in Vergisson in the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation of southern Burgundy (Mâconnais). The domaine was established by Gilles Morat, who took over family vineyards and has since built a reputation for producing exceptional Chardonnay wines. The estate covers approximately 8 hectares of vineyards spread across several parcels in Vergisson, including some old vines that contribute depth and complexity to the wines. The vineyards are planted on the limestone and clay soils characteristic of the region, with the iconic Roche de Vergisson providing a dramatic backdrop. Gilles Morat is known for his meticulous vineyard work and minimal intervention winemaking, creating wines that express the unique terroir of each parcel.
