Cave de l'Abbé Rous is a cooperative cellar located in Banyuls-sur-Mer, a picturesque coastal town in French Catalonia near the Spanish border. Named after Abbé Rous, a local figure who helped develop the region's viticulture, the cooperative produces wines under the Banyuls and Collioure appellations. The vineyards are planted on steep schist terraces overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, creating a dramatic and challenging landscape for viticulture. The cooperative is particularly renowned for its Banyuls fortified wines, made primarily from Grenache Noir in a manner similar to Port, as well as its dry Collioure reds and Roses. The wines reflect the unique terroir of schist soils and maritime influence.
