Château Kalian
About the Winery
Château Kalian was established in 1992 when Anne and Alain Griaud acquired the property (now 13.8 hectares after expansions), naming it after their children Katell and Kilian. Both children became oenologists - Katell works as a winemaker in Virginia, while Kilian took over from his parents in 2007 and began organic conversion in 2008. The estate is now 100% organic and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017. Located in Monbazillac near Bergerac, the family produces Bergerac and Monbazillac wines, with 90% of production dedicated to sweet wines from Sémillon and Muscadelle grapes affected by noble botrytis.
“A 13.8-hectare organic family estate in Monbazillac since 1992, named after the winemakers' children Katell and Kilian.”
